Abyssinian cats can be distinguished from other breeds of cats by their short and smooth fur as well as by their very specific colors. In fact, it has been over 85 years of breeding that led to Abys as we now know them. It is believed that the first Abyssinians were born in England... not Abyssinia! In fact, the first registry of an Abyssinian was in 1986 in England.
After First World War, the Abys slowly established in the United States. But with the tragedy or Second World War there were only about 12 cats left living in England. So, it was not until the 50's that the breed started spreading.
Abyssinian Cats are quite a new breed in Mexico, but due to its friendly temperament and beauty, Abys are increasingly sought as pets.
